The Power of Mentorship
Success is rarely achieved alone; there are often people behind it. Behind every great leader, entrepreneur, or athlete is someone who guided them, believed in them and supported them. At Enroute 2 Success, we recognize that mentorship has a significant positive impact on players in both chess and golf- it’s a critical part of growth, development, and long-term success.
The Impact of Mentors
A mentor is more than just a teacher or advisor; they leave a lasting impact on the participants they work with. They do more than just teach- they inspire, guide and empower youth. The impact of mentors includes:
Building Confidence: mentors help participants see their potential, even when they feel self-doubt
Providing Guidance: mentors offer insights and advice to help navigate challenges and decisions
Encouraging Perseverance: mentors show how to stay committed and keep moving forward, even when obstacles arise
Instilling Values: mentors show how to utilize skills beyond chess and golf, our coaches teach character, discipline, and integrity
A mentor's influence can shape a youth’s career or athletic path, but also their mindset and outlook on life.
Why it’s Important to Have a Mentor-And Be One
Everyone benefits from mentorship
For youth, a mentor provides a trusted guide, someone to look up to, and a source of encouragement during challenges
For adults, being a mentor is equally valuable- it’s a chance to pass down knowledge, wisdom, and have a lasting impact
How Our Coaches Mentor Youth
At Enroute 2 Success, mentorship is at the heart of what we do. Our coaches see mentorship as more than training- it’s about shaping futures. They use chess and golf not just as games, but as tools to build life skills.
Through Chess, coaches teach strategy, patience, and critical thinking. Youth learn how to think ahead, handle setbacks, and make confident decisions both on and off the board
Through Golf, coaches emphasize growth through challenges. Golf teaches patience, emotional control, and the importance of staying focused over long periods of time. Our coaches use the game to show that progress does not occur instantly- it takes practice, composure, and patience.
Beyond the Game, our coaches take time to listen, encourage, and challenge youth to set goals for their lives. They remind them that success comes from consistency, character, and effort.
By connecting lessons from the game to real-life situations, our coaches help youth develop the confidence, discipline, and resilience they need to succeed in every aspect of life.
