Chess Fest 2025 brought families, students, and community partners together at Meadowvale Community Centre for a full day of friendly competition, creativity, and connection. This year, we collaborated with Mississauga Councillor Martin Reid to help bring the event to the community. Tables were set for players of all ages, volunteers welcomed families at the door, and the venue quickly transformed into a warm gathering place for learners, spectators, and longtime chess fans.

Our Sponsors and Partners

Enbridge joined us as our event sponsor and helped us bring this year’s Chess Fest to life. Their support allowed us to offer a full lineup of games, activities, and prizes for everyone who attended.

Mr. Singh’s Pizza supported the event as our food sponsor, and Flour Spot added to the experience with cupcakes that guests enjoyed throughout the night.

We were also grateful for our prize sponsors. Glow Zone 360, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, ROM, Brampton Steelheads, and The Rose Brampton contributed attraction passes and performance tickets that added excitement to the tournament.

Thank you to our sponsors for helping make this year’s Chess Fest such an enjoyable experience!

Crafts and Creativity

Our craft station was a favourite for kids who were eager to design their own chess pieces. Children filled the table with markers, stickers, and lots of creativity as they coloured and decorated their pieces, experimenting with different materials along the way. The station stayed busy throughout the evening and became a fun spot for families to get creative together.

Capturing Memories

The Keepsake Line joined us with a phone station where guests picked up the receiver and recorded short messages throughout the day. Some left jokes, others shared quick reviews of their experience, and a few simply wanted to leave a message for the fun of it. It added a personal touch to the event and gave families a memorable way to mark the day. Listen Here.

A Friendly Match to Remember

A highlight of the evening was the friendly match between Brampton City Councillor Rod Power and Mississauga City Councillor Martin Reid. Guests gathered to watch as the game unfolded. After a focused and competitive match, Martin Reid secured the win and took home the prize.

Tournament Play

Our multi-level tournament welcomed players with different levels of experience. The room was filled with strategic play, careful thinking, and steady excitement as participants advanced through each round.

Moments That Stood Out

Parents watched proudly, kids shared ideas with their friends, and volunteers helped keep everything organized. Everywhere in the room, someone was in the middle of a match, learning something new, or celebrating a win.

Looking Ahead

Thank you to every volunteer, parent, and participant who joined us for Chess Fest 2025. We look forward to continuing this momentum through our upcoming programs and events, and we are already excited to welcome everyone back for next year’s Chess Fest!
