Chess Fest Returns for 2026
This summer, EnRoute 2 Success is bringing Chess Fest to Brampton for a full day of chess, competition, activities and community at Chinguacousy Park’s Sandra Hames Centre.
Taking place on Saturday, August 29, Chess Fest 2026 will welcome players, families and community members of all ages for tournament play, casual games, trivia, creative activities, exhibition matches, prizes and more.
Whether you regularly compete, play for fun or simply enjoy the game, there will be plenty happening throughout the day.

Lunch is included with admission and will be sponsored by Mr. Singh’s Pizza.
What to Expect at Chess Fest 2026
Chess Fest is built around a full day of opportunities to play, compete and experience chess in different ways.
The day will centre around our multi-division chess tournament, where players can face new opponents, put their skills to the test and compete for prizes. With divisions designed for different levels, the tournament gives both developing and experienced players an opportunity to challenge themselves in a friendly but competitive setting.
More Than the Tournament
There will be plenty happening away from the tournament boards as well.
Guests can pull up a chair at the open play tables for casual games throughout the day, test their chess knowledge through trivia and challenges, or create something of their own at the DIY Chess Piece Craft Station.
Chess Fest will also feature exhibition matches, along with prizes and giveaways throughout the event, giving players and spectators plenty to experience between rounds.
Lunch is included with admission and is generously sponsored by Mr. Singh’s Pizza.
A Day for the Chess Community
One of the things we enjoy most about Chess Fest is seeing different parts of the chess community come together in one place.
Regular competitors can find new opponents, casual players can sit down for a game without entering the tournament, and those who are newer to chess can experience the game in an active and welcoming environment.
It’s an opportunity to meet other players, try something new and spend the day surrounded by people who share an interest in chess.

Chess is an important part of EnRoute 2 Success’s programming throughout the year. Through our free chess lessons and community events, youth have opportunities to strengthen their skills, build confidence, practise focus and problem-solving, and connect with other players.
Chess Fest brings that experience to a larger stage, creating another opportunity for youth and community members to come together through a game that encourages patience, strategy and continued learning.
