Join EnRoute 2 Success, in partnership with Brampton Library, for a Black History Month screening of The Ninth Floor, followed by a Fireside Chat.
The Ninth Floor documents a pivotal moment in Canadian history. In 1969, Caribbean students at Sir George Williams University in Montreal were targeted and criminalized after raising concerns of racial discrimination. The film captures both the events themselves and the lasting impact they left behind.
Following the screening, participants are invited to stay for a Fireside Chat moderated by Dwight Drummond, journalist, author, and long-time Black Canadian media leader. The conversation will include voices from the community and will reflect on the role of systemic racism in the events depicted and how those patterns continue to appear today.
