Each year, EnRoute 2 Success’s Champions of Success Golf Tournament brings together golfers, families, sponsors and supporters from across the GTA for a day of golf, connection and giving back. This year, we gathered at Peel Village Golf Course for our fourth annual tournament.

More than a day on the course, the tournament was an opportunity to support EnRoute 2 Success’s free youth golf and chess lessons, mentorship, workshops and other experiences that help young people build confidence, learn new skills and explore new opportunities.

The day began bright and early as golfers arrived, checked in and prepared for the tournament. We were honoured to welcome Mayor Patrick Brown, who shared a few words with participants before play began and helped us officially kick off the day.

Congratulations to Custom Control Panels team members Brent Easson and Mike McCarthy, who finished at the top of the leaderboard and were named this year’s tournament champions.

Thank you to every golfer who participated and brought enthusiasm, sportsmanship and plenty of friendly competition to the course.

Celebrating Our Youth Golfers

One of the highlights of the afternoon reception was celebrating the young golfers who participated in EnRoute 2 Success’s free golf program this year.

Throughout the summer, the students worked on their technique, developed their confidence and learned the value of focus, patience and perseverance with support from Coach Richie and Coach Sam.

During a special presentation, Taye Chernet-Akalehiywot received the President’s Award, while Storm Chernet-Akalehiywot, Yohannes Mason, Reina Mason and Liam Smart received the Spirit Award.

Seeing the students recognized in front of golfers, families and supporters was an important reminder of who the tournament ultimately benefits.

Afternoon Reception

Following the tournament, golfers and reception guests gathered over a Caribbean-inspired buffet sponsored by Toronto Pearson Airport, our Food & Beverage Sponsor, before the afternoon presentations and awards began.

Joe Tilley returned as our MC, and we were pleased to welcome MPP Graham McGregor and Superintendent Dhillon from Peel Regional Police, who joined us in showing their support for EnRoute 2 Success and the young people we serve.

The 2026 Gloria Baylis Award

The reception also featured the presentation of the 2026 Gloria Baylis Award.

Named in honour of Canadian civil rights trailblazer and entrepreneur Gloria Baylis, the award recognizes an individual, business or organization demonstrating leadership and a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and positive social impact.

This year’s nominees were Dr. Omo Ogbamola, Natalie Williams and The Northpine Foundation. Each nominee reflects the values behind the award through their leadership, service and continued contributions to others.

We were proud to announce The Northpine Foundation as the recipient of the 2026 Gloria Baylis Award.

The Northpine Foundation invests in organizations working to create pathways toward stable and fulfilling lives. Its areas of focus include housing, education, employment, healthcare, language support and other services that help individuals and families move toward long-term stability.
