Creating Opportunities for Brampton Youth: The Story Behind EnRoute 2 Success

Our journey began with chess lessons in a small section of a local restaurant in Brampton. The space accommodated just six to eight people, and some weeks, only one student attended. That same student has continued with the program ever since.

Since 2022, what started with a few chess players has grown into an organization offering free sports and educational programs, mentorship, and community experiences to youth across Brampton.

Brampton is a diverse and growing city, filled with talented, ambitious youth. Yet the cost of extracurricular activities, limited exposure to different career paths, and a lack of professional connections can affect what youth have the chance to pursue.

We started EnRoute 2 Success because we wanted to change that.

We believe youth should have the chance to try something unfamiliar and gain experiences beyond what they're traditionally expected to pursue or excel in. Whether it's stepping onto a golf course for the first time, learning to think strategically through chess, or speaking with a professional about a career they've never considered, even one experience can introduce a new possibility.

We've seen this firsthand through our golf program. Some of the children who joined us had never picked up a golf club before their first lesson. For some of them, it's turned into a real passion.

Today, our work includes:

  • Golf Program: Introducing youth to golf while teaching patience, discipline, and perseverance. Free weekly lessons make a sport that's often expensive more accessible to Brampton families.

  • Chess Program: Helping youth develop critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills through weekly lessons, tournaments, and other activities.

  • Workshops and Special Events: Bringing youth together for hands-on activities, educational experiences, and new ways to learn outside the classroom.

  • Career Exploration and Mentorship: Connecting youth with professionals, industry insights, and practical resources to help them understand different career pathways and plan their next steps.

We've also hosted signature events like Chess Fest and the Champions of Success Golf Tournament, bringing families, players, and community partners together for friendly competition and shared experiences.

We know success looks different for everyone. For some youth, it's finding something they enjoy and sticking with it. For others, it's gaining the confidence to take on a new challenge. We want them to have the freedom to figure out what success means to them.

So far, we've supported more than 1,500 youth through our programs and community initiatives. As we continue to reach more families, we're finding new ways to introduce youth to activities, interests, and career paths they may not have considered before.

We couldn't do this work without the volunteers, families, sponsors, community organizations, and local businesses who support us. Their contributions help us keep our programs accessible and make experiences available to youth who might otherwise miss out.

Get Involved

From our first chess lessons to the programs we offer today, we've continued finding new ways to introduce youth to different experiences. Community support has helped make that growth possible.

Our next step is the Career Showcase 2026. Taking place on Saturday, December 5, 2026, this free, interactive event will connect youth ages 14–29 with industry professionals and give them practical guidance as they consider their futures.

We're inviting professionals, businesses, and community organizations to get involved. Whether you're interested in sharing your expertise, volunteering, or supporting the event as a partner, your participation can help give youth access to knowledge and experiences that could shape their next steps.
